The first Swedish canning machine is officially up and running. The unit has been in progress for a while – we have made test runs with water and beer. The first machine has been installed at the Hop Notch brewery and is now being tested in production. Both thebrewers and we are happy with the results. Just like Pontum’s previous machines it is compact. This means it is perfect for microbreweries who might not have the largest premises.

The canning unit turns Pontum’s filler into a canning machine, making it possible to have both a bottling and a canning unit in one machine. Futhermore, the beer canning unit can even be an extension to an already existing Pontum’s bottle filling machine.  You can switch between bottling or canning in just a few hours.

After filling the cans, the lids are pressed on immediately to keep oxygen levels low. Not to mention it is one of few machines that fill with counter pressure, meaning you get far better quality.

Almost everything worked as planned during the first beer filling tests, and Hop Notch are no longer dependent on mobile canning. Below you can se a video of the beer canning unit in working process.

The machine also got Pontum a mention in a news article at BeerNews.se, Swedens biggest site for beer-related news.
